FOOTSTEPS IN THE SNOW
How we started
“Footsteps in the Snow” was started on day three of the COVID 19 lockdown in the UK. It is a series of impressions written as I reflected on different Bible verses early each morning,
I had wanted to write a whole year series of daily Bible readings for some time, but I never expected a crisis on the scale we have passed through to be the catalyst for this book.
When lockdown began, June and I started a WhatsApp group called “Keep in Touch” so that Christian friends could maintain contact during the crisis. I wrote a daily post to start the day, and “Footsteps in the Snow” is a collection of the first 100 posts. As the days passed, I was encouraged by readers to consider publishing them as a book and the idea of a blog was also born; so here we are.
Most of the content is written as stand-alone impressions, but there are also some short series based on characters and themes. “Footsteps in the Snow” is intended to turn our eyes of faith to the Person who is the object of our faith: the Lord Jesus Christ. I have always believed, since becoming a Christian over 50 years ago, that the power of the Christian life comes from daily communion with the Saviour. We best follow the Lord Jesus by learning to worship Him. We become like Him by being in His presence. Central to this is allowing God to speak to us through reading the Bible and discovering Christ in its pages. If this blog encourages its readers to do this, it will have served its purpose.
